Journeyman Fabricator-Mechanical

Job Description

Come utilize a variety of skillsets in a dynamic and exciting career where you can see the products you produce in action!  The Research and Development group at Andros Engineering seeks a career minded individual for an advanced level Fabricator-Mechanic position in our prototype shop.  We offer excellent pay and benefits with growth and promotion opportunities.

Location: Paso Robles, CA.

Regular Duties:

  • Construct unique and innovative heavy machinery from the ground up
    • Metal fabrication – Welding, Plasma cutting, Machining
    • Assembly – Mechanical systems, engines, power transmission, hydraulics, electrical, on-site installation
    • Testing – Test equipment in shop and field to verify it meets customer demands. modification as required
  • Interact & collaborate with engineering and shop personnel to ensure delivery of quality products on time. Willingness to throw your good idea away and start over with someone’s great
  • Shop and equipment maintenance and upkeep

Requirements:

  • Fabrication skills utilizing power and hand tools, FCAW, GMAW, and SMAW processes
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and mobile equipment
  • Experience with basic machining
  • Must be meticulous, organized, and capable of multi-tasking in a solo or team environment
  • Eye for continuous improvement to design, process, or strategy
  • Self-starter with a good attitude and communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50# and work on your feet for 8-10 hrs.
  • Willing to accept training and work overtime as required
  • Valid CA Driver’s License
  • A welding test is given during the interview

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Position is hourly with wages based on experience ($23-30+/hr.)

Engineer – Agriculture Engineer

Job Description

From concept to complete machine, the Research department at Andros strives to create innovative custom machinery offering customers improved efficiency through mechanization. Be a part of a team developing technologies to serve the future of the agricultural industry.

Perform as a member of a research and development focused team to design and build ag machinery. Complete design of mechanical systems, engineering analysis and design reviews. Create 3D models, shop drawings and bills of materials. Interact, coordinate and assist fellow engineers, fabrication personnel, vendors and clients to complete jobs in an efficient and timely manner. Assist in the manufacturing and in-field testing processes. Work in varied field environments to prove design integrity and determine necessary improvements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (Agricultural, Mechanical, or related)
  • Background in agriculture
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial fabrication and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work in a production shop environment
  • Work environments include office, shop and onsite at customer’s locations
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics and electrical
  • Knowledge and experience with drafting and 3D solid modeling (Solidworks)
  • Effective written and oral communication, organization and time management skills

CNC Lathe Operator

Job Description

The Production Department at Andros Engineering is looking for an experienced CNC Lathe Operator. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a professional metal shop operating a CNC Lathe, Plasma Cutter, and Manual Machines commonly found in metal shops.

Location: Paso Robles, CA.

Required Skills:

  • High attention to detail
  • Work independently to manage time, schedule, and prioritization with input from supervisor
  • Effectively communicate with engineering and others to problem solve
  • Ask questions, clarify instructions, and take constructive feedback in a professional matter
  • Accurately read and interpret documentation to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished part, sequence of operations and setup requirements
  • Setup and adjustment of tool offsets using a probe
  • Adjustment of offsets to meet print dimensions and tolerances
  • Inspection of critical dimensions using standard metrology tools
  • Ability to recognize tool breakage/need for indexing or changing tools
  • Proficiency in manual lathe and mill operations
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment

Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Responsible for the conversion of 3-D models into manufacturable components.

Provide feedback and input to design engineers about material selection and suggest changes for manufacturability and to leverage existing tooling. At the direction of Engineering Team Principal Engineers, complete the design of sub-components for manufacturing by AEC and use in AEC machinery. Assist shop employees with production runs including drawings when needed, push nesting/burn plans, track finished products, order appropriate raw materials, advise E&M leadership on tooling requirements and selection, and machine operation/setup when short handed.

Location: Paso Robles, CA.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Conversion of models into appropriate Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) program language. Requires proficiency in:
    • G-Code
    • Fusion360
    • SolidWorks
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Geometric Tolerancing and Distancing (GT&D)
  • Requires familiarity with:
    • Nesting techniques
    • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
    • SQL Based Database use
  • Must be able to operate (with familiarization training) CAM Machinery including:
    • Plasma Table
    • Plasma Tube Processor
    • Vertical Mill
    • Long Bed Lathe
    • Laser Cutter
    • Press Brake
    • Robotic Welder
  • Must have a valid Class-C drivers license and be able to safely operate a forklift

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay: On a case-by-case basis, the level of shop involvement may vary an AME.   As a result, this position may either be hourly ($28-$42/hr) or salary ($70,000-$90,000).
  • Salary has the potential to increase beyond starting ranges based on performance and professional growth.
